A Pair of Early Steatite Stamp Seals. A pair of steatite stamp seals. The first is of black steatite, Syria, 4th Millennium BC, rectangular in shape with angled, the suspension hole worn through from years of use. On base, incised lines in a crisscross pattern. 25 x 15mm. The second is of tan steatite, Levantine, c. 2nd - 1st Millennium BC, square in shape the sides tapering inward with rounded top, suspension hole through sides. On base, a pair of incised standing figures. 19 x 19 x 14mm. Both intact, the first with wear, the second with mineral deposits. Ex Los Angeles private collection. Value Range: $200-$300.
