Moche Figure from Peru, ca. 400 - 700 AD. A choice Moche figure from Peru, ca. 400 - 700 AD. This finely sculpted example is 6-1/2" high and is a rare depiction of a vendor selling funerary goods. He is holding a canchero (ceremonial water dipper) in one hand and a stirrup bottle in the other. He is wearing a layered mantle with decorated fringes and has a large shuspa slung over his shoulders. The simple headdress allows his coif to flow onto his shoulders and he is adorned with large ear ornaments. Good paint and strong mineral deposits. Ex Caravallo collection. Value range: $500 - $750.
