Moche Shaman from Peru, ca. 400 - 700 AD. An exceptional Moche figure from Peru, ca. 400 - 700 AD. It is 10-3/4” high and depicts a seated shaman. He is wearing a complex zoomorphic headdress with large emblem and long, flowing tasseled flaps at the back. He is adorned with a segmented necklace, a belt with rattles and extensive ritual tattoos on his face. He appears to be holding an objects, perhaps a musical instrument. An excellent example, with good paint and mineral deposits. Ex Caravallo collection. Value range: $$700 - $1000.
