Moche Crab Vessel from Peru, ca. 400 - 700 AD. A large Moche canteen from Peru, ca. 400 - 700 AD. This lovely vessel is 9â high and is decorated on each side with a finely detailed crab, molded in high relief. The realistically portrayed crustacean is set off against a background of light orange clay by being painted in cream, with red highlights. The suspension loops are intact. An impressive, showy piece with good mineral deposits. Ex Pachenko estate. Value range: $600 - $800.
