Moche Sacred Mountain Scene from Peru, ca, 400 - 700 AD. A fine Moche Sacred Mountain scene from Peru, ca. 400 - 700 AD. It is 4-1/2â high and depicts Ai Apaec emerging from the mountains. He is nicely detailed and is adorned with serpents coiled around the mountain peaks. Good paint and mineral deposits. Ex Caravallo collection. Cf. Giersz âEl Mundo Sobrenatural Mochicaâ, page 167, for nearly identical examples from the Herrera Museum, perhaps from the same mold or matrix. Value range: $500 - $750.
