Chinese Neolithic Ceramic Jar, Gansu/Yangshao Culture. A large Chinese Neolithic ceramic jar, Gansu/Yangshao culture, c. 2000 BC, of tapered globular form with a pair of loop handles. Painted on the upper body with four panels, each with a central area containing a ‘checker-board’ motif surrounded by swirling bands, all in a dark brown slip over crème ground. H: 13 ½”. Intact, some minor surface wear. Ex Florida private collection. Value Range: $1000 - $1200.
