Moche Owl head from Peru, ca. 400 - 700 AD. An excellent Moche avian effigy head from Peru, ca. 400 - 700 AD. This superbly detailed vessel is 6-1/2ﾔ high and depicts an owl deity. Its face is nicely detailed and the beak is executed as a secondary bird head. The kaolin slip is well preserved and highlighted with red pigment. Good mineral deposits. Ex Sarmiento collection. Value range: $600 - $850.
