Inca Conopa from Peru, ca. 1300 - 1500 AD. A beautiful Inca conopa from Peru, ca. 1300 - 1500 AD. This superb example is 2-1/4" long and depicts a llama with a finely detailed face. The conopa is carved from fine alabaster with red veins in the matrix and retains remnants of the tallow offering in the cavity. These were placed on altars near fields as offering to agricultural deities. Ex Gallatin estate. Value range: $200 - $300.
