A Colima Phytomorphic Pipe in the shape of a Gourd or Yucca Fruit. A Colima phytomorphic pipe in the shape of a gourd or Yucca fruit, West Mexico, c. 150 BC - AD 250, with nicely burnished bowl and stem. This highly unusual design, reminiscent of a ï¾Flash Gordonï¾ spaceship, shows much evidence of use and apparently was designed to be ï¾smoked with the noseï¾ meaning that the user would gently puff on the pipe with the small, nipple-like mouthpiece to keep it lit but would inhale the sacred smoke through the nose which would have been directly over the open bowl.
