A Near Eastern Bronze Horse Bit and a Large Harness Ring. A Near Eastern bronze horse bit and a large harness ring, 2nd Millennium BC. The bit is an early example of a horse bit called a ï¾snaffle bitï¾. Which applies direct pressure to the horseï¾s mouth from a central joint. It is constructed from twisted heavy bronze wire and is in excellent condition, with wear in the joints indicating use. L: 8 ï¾¼ï¾ (20.9 cm). The large bronze ring formed part of the horseï¾s harness or trappings, made from extremely heavy bronze wire. W: 4ï¾ (10.2 cm). Ex Orange County private collection. Est Value $300 - $400.
