Maya Carved Vessel from Guatemala, ca. 100 - 300 AD. An exceptional Maya carved vessel from the Motagua Valley of Guatemala, ca. 100 - 300 AD. This rare Late Pre-Classic or Early Classic jar is 6ï¾ in diameter, 5-1/5ï¾ high and is decorated with textured panels created with a puncture/stippling technique, alternating with narrow burnished panels. The corseted rim is decorated with deeply carved geometric designs echoing woven reed patterns. In perfect condition, with strong mineral deposits. Ex Tribal Treasures Gallery.
