Phoenicia, Sidon. Elagabalus. A.D. 218-222. AE 30 (29.9 mm, 13.95 g, 11 h). IMP CAESAR M AV ANTONIN, laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / AVR PIA SID COL MET, AETER BFI in exergue, two-handled modius containing grain ears. BMC 274-278 var (legends); SNG Cop -. F/VF, sandy red patina. Very Rare. Ex Amphora Coins. Sidon sided with Septimius Severus against the advances of Pescennius Niger, a battle which Septimius eventually won. This rare coin records the imperial reward given the city by Septimius and his successors.
