Chimu-Inca Canteen from Peru, ca. 1300 - 1450 AD. A rarely seen Chimu-Inca canteen from Peru, ca. 1300 -1450 AD. It is 8-1/4" high, with its lentoid chamber supported on an oval pedestal base. On the upper ridge of the vessel, a pair of figures are confronting birds. The figures are drummers, each adorned with a large labret. Intact, with strong mineral deposits and trails evident on the highly burnished slip. Ex Pachenko estate. Value range: $417 - $600.
