Banded Agate. Afsharid - early Qajar Dynasty. c. 1750-1850 CE.. Round intaglio in Kufic script. Text: Bismillah, la kowwata illa billah, astaghfiru Allah. "In the name of God, there is no power except from God, I ask forgiveness of God."A very good stone and a cut on the agate that dates back to Antiquity (a similar cut is found on a gem of Nebuchanessar c. 550 BCE in the British Museum.).
