Atilius Saranus. 155-154 B.C. AR denarius (12 mm, 3.91 g, 9 h). Rome. Helmeted head of Roma right; behind, X / C SAR below, ROMA in linear frame in exergue, Victory, holding reins and whip, driving galloping biga right. Cf. Craford 199/1a and 201/1; P. Lampinen, "The Placement of Atilius Saranus in the Sequence of Roman Republican Moneyers," CNR XIX/4 (1994), 1; Sydenham -; Atilia -. VF, toned, graffiti on obverse (ΦΙΛΦΕ). Rare and interesting.

The C in the moneyer's name has been partly erased, indicating the engraver may have been gotten confused, thinking he was engraving a die with C · SCR (C. Scribonius, Crawford 201/1), a moneyer probably serving n the same year as Atilius Saranus.
