Zoomorphic Jar from Costa Rica, ca. 400 - 700 AD. An excellent El Bosque type jar from Costa Rica, ca. 400 - 700 AD. This fine tripod vessel is 4” in diameter and is elaborately decorated with a pair of frogs on the chamber, small serpents on the handles and fish on the hollow legs, which contain rattles. Nice linear décor painted over the red slip. Ex De Beausset estate. Value range: $200 - $300.
