Manuel I Comnenus. 1143-1180. BI trachy (29.8 mm, 4.50 g, 6 h). Constantinople mint. IC-XC, Christ, bearded, seated on throne, wearing nimbus, pallium and colobion; raising right hand in benediction, holds book of Gospels in left hand; star on either side / MANOVHΛ ΔECΠOT, The Virgin, nimbate, and Manuel, both standing facing; the Virgin wears pallium and maphorium and crowns the emperor who wears divitision and loros, holding labarum and globus cruciger.
