Lot 6-410. Bronze Age Pithos.

A large Late Bronze Age pithos from the Holy Land, c. 2000 - 1550 BC, in tan buff clay, the body ovoid with rounded base and looped handles on the sides, the neck cylindrical with a flared mouth. A large and impressive example of a vessel used during the Canaanite Period for the storage and transport of oil or wine. H: 17 ½” (44.2 cm). Intact with earthen deposits. Ex Orange County private collection. Value range $750 - $850
