An Attractive Vicus Feline Stir-up Vessel. A burnished Vicus feline stir-up vessel, Peru, c. 500 BC - AD 200, the large head with mouth open wide, four pointed teeth within. Below the chin the neck is adorned with two rows of pierced holes. The nose is flared and the eyes bulging, giving the piece a really fierce appearance. H: 7” (17.8 cm). Minor restoration to an area on the right side of the body and left ear reattached. The surfaces are highly burnished with deposits. Ex Heritage Auctions. Value Range: $400-$450.
