Lot 1-317. A Roman Ceramic Lamp with Leaping Lion.

A Roman Ceramic Lamp with Leaping Lion. A nice Roman ceramic lamp, 1st - 2nd Century AD, with a lion leaping lt. within the concave disk, fill hole below. The shoulder is decorated with myrtle wreath and the short, rounded nozzle set off at junction by two semicircular grooves. A ring handle at back and huge, flat base set off by moulding and small central circle. L: 4 ½” (10.8 cm). Some age cracks and light deposits. Ex Los Angeles private collection. Value Range: $250-$350.
