The Marcia gens claimed descent from the ancient kings of Rome; Numa Pompilius and Ancus Marcius. This moneyer is probably L. Marcius Censorinus, one of the leaders of the Marian party and accuser of Sulla for malversation. He entered Rome with Marius and Cinna in 87 B.C. and seized the treasury.
