L. Marcius Censorinus. 82 B.C. AR denarius (17.9 mm, 3.71 g, 11 h). Rome mint. Laureate head of Apollo right / L·CENSOR, satyr Marsyas standing left, with wine skin over shoulder; behind, a column surmounted by a draped figure. Crawford 363/1d; Sydenham 737; RSC Marcia 24. Toned Fine.

The Marcia gens claimed descent from the ancient kings of Rome; Numa Pompilius and Ancus Marcius. This moneyer is probably L. Marcius Censorinus, one of the leaders of the Marian party and accuser of Sulla for malversation. He entered Rome with Marius and Cinna in 87 B.C. and seized the treasury.
