Macedonian Kingdom. Alexander III the Great. 336-323 B.C. AR drachm (17.85 mm, 4.16 g, 2 h). Pella Mint, struck 325-315 B.C. Head of Alexander as young Hercules right, wearing lion-skin headdress, paws tied at throat; all within dotted border / ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ, name vertically downwards on right of Zeus aetophoros, enthroned left, left leg drawn back, holding eagle and resting on scepter; (HΔ) monogram in field . Cf. Price 210 (tet); Muller 762. VF / good VF, lightly re-toned after old cleaning, small dark original encrustation bits remain in recesses, obverse 20% off-center to west, losing nothing.
