Lot 8-295. Lot of 4 Bronze Fibulae.

Lot of 4 Bronze Fibulae. A lot of 4 ancient bronze fibulae. The first is a Persian ‘hand’ brooch, c. 5th - 4th Century BC, with raises detail on the body. L: 2 ¾” (7 cm). Cf. Hattatt (1982), no. 211. Intact, light deposits; the second is a Roman crossbow fibula, c. 4th Century AD, with nicely incised details and excellent surfaces. L: 3 ¼” (8.3 cm). Cf. Hattatt (1985), no. 505; the third is a “P-Shaped” fibula, the body of beautiful construction. L: 2 ¼” (5.7 cm). Missing pin and coil; and the last is a Hod Hill type, c. 1st Century AD, with incised design on the body. L: 1 ½” (3.8 cm). Cf. Hattatt (1987), no. 1498 for a similar example. Minor loss to bottom of catch, otherwise intact. A very nice group! Ex Orange County private collection. Value range: $350 - $450.
