Fresia and early British kingdoms. Low Country Ango-Saxons. ca. 695-740. AR sceatta (11.4 mm, .78 g). Frisian sceatta - Series E, "Porcupine". Porcupine right with lugged X and two lines below curve, XII / Beaded standard, annulet at center with five pellets, three above, one to each side, Ts in 3 quarters, lugged X in 4th. Cf. Metcalf 237; SCBC 790. EF, "brilliant" - appears recently cleaned but beginning to re-tone. Scarce.
