Macedonian Kingdom. Philip III Arrhidaios. 323-317 B.C. AR drachm (16.9 mm, 4.29 g, 12 h). Magnesia ad Maendrum Mint, struck 323-319 B.C. Head of Alexander as young Hercules right wearing lion-skin headdress, paws tied at throat / ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟΥ, legend vertically downward to right of Zeus Aetephoros enthroned left, right leg drawn back, holding eagle and scepter; AT monogram in field to left, no control beneath throne. Philip III Arrhidaeus reigned as king of Macedonia, an Ancient Greek Kingdom in northern Greece, from 11 June 323 BC until his death. He was a son of King Philip II of Macedon by Philinna of Larissa, and half-brother of Alexander the Great.
