Oado was a Kushan deity associated with the blowing winds and atmospheric forces. Though not as prominently worshipped as other major figures in the Kushan pantheon, Oado appears in inscriptions and on coinage issued by the Kushan emperor Kanishka I (circa 127?150 CE), where he is depicted as a bearded figure with a billowing cloak, symbolizing movement and the invisible power of the wind. His iconography suggests possible Iranian or Indo-Scythian influences, consistent with the syncretic nature of Kushan religion, which blended Greco-Roman, Indian, and Central Asian elements. Oado?s presence reflects the Kushans? reverence for natural forces and their integration into royal ideology.
