Moesia Superior, Viminacium. Gordian III. A.D. 238-244. AE Sestertius (equivalent) (30.4 mm, 23.85 g, 2 h). Struck AD. 242/3. IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Gordian III right, seen from behind / P. M. S. COL VIM, female allegorical personification of Mosia standing facing, head left, extending hands (holding?) over bull, on left, and lion on right // AN IIII (= yr. 4 = AD 242/3). RPC vol. VII.2, 25; SGICV 3642; AMNG 83. Near VF, full-flan strike on large round flan, bits of remaining original patina on both Obv & Rx; coin in general is re-toning from an old, enthisiastic, but incomplete cleaning.
