England. William III. 1694-1702. AR half crown (33 mm, 15.35 g, 12 h). Sterling. Struck 1697. GVLIELMVS ? III ? DE[I G]RA ? , laureate and draped bust of William III right / 16 | 97 ? MAG | BR FRA ? | ET ? HIB ? | REX ?, lion rampant to left within central cartouche of cross consisting of four crowned shields of arms which break legend into quarters. SCE 3487. XF, well-struck, with small weak strike area around 3:00 and centered (milled); interesting multi-hued patina (mainly brownish gray) with blues and greens in reverse legend. Extremely Rare.
