Severus Alexander. A.D. 222-235. AE dupondius (26.3 mm, 11.94 g, 1 h). Rome mint, Struck A.D. 232. IMP ALEXANDER PIVS AVG, Radiate bust of Severus Alexander right, drapery on left shoulder / MARS VL[T]O[R], Mars in helmet and full armor hustling right, holding spear and shield; S - C. RIC IV 636; C 164; SRCV 8031. VF, well struck in good style on full-size, round flan; obverse shows some evidence of amateur "smoothing" of the green/brown patina, reverse is undisturbed olive patina.
