A pair of attractive Coptic textile fragments, Roman Egypt, 5th - 7th Century AD, the first a rectangular textile panel from a tunic with two decorative registers. The upper most depicts an armed male with a shield and weapon, the lower register with a sprinting rabbit. Nice brown color over beige ground. Linen and wool (tapestry and tabby). 7 3/4" (19.7 cm); the second a rectangular panel from a tunic decorated with a narrow strip consisting of a central human head flanked by stylized animal devices. The bordering consists of a wide deep brown line framed by a nice wave motif. Linen and wool (tapestry and tabby). Dimensions: 8 7/8" (22.7) x 3 1/4" (8.7 cm).A very nice panel, the short side retaining the original hem. Ex Nomis Antiquities. Value range: $150 $250
