Lot 12-225. Moche Deity Figure

An excellent Moche figure from Peru, ca. 400 – 700 AD. This fine seated example is 5-3/4” high and depicts the deity Ai Apaec with his hands resting on his knees. He is wearing an elaborately decorated mantle and headdress, painted in Fineline style. His fangs are visible in the open mouth and the large, round eyes show that he is in a state of trance. Good paint and mineral deposits. Ex Pachenko collection. Value range: $500 - $700
