A Pair of Ancient Cosmetic Containers. A pair of ancient cosmetic containers. The first is Bactrian, c. 2nd Millennium BC, with rounded body and three legs. Around the shoulder are raised stylized floral devices. Intact with thick green encrustation. H: 2 ½” (6.4 cm). The second is an Achaemenid faience kohl vessel, c. 5th – 4th Century BC, with angular shape and traces of blue-green glaze remaining. Intact with some earthen deposits. H: 2 3/8” (6 cm). Ex Los Angeles private collection. Value range $250-350.
