Lot 688. Bone Chess Piece - Queen. England, XIII-XIV Century. Extremely Rare.
Bone Chess Piece - Queen. England, XIII-XIV Century. Bone cyclinder which originally held an inserted head. Decorated with incised ring and dot motifs. Similar to Museum of London specimen (MedHous.956) except it is lacking the ?mahout? wedge which desinates their peice as a King -- presumably this peice is a Queen. 1.5? tall. Stable scrach to side, else intact (minus inserted head). Very rare -- possibly the first recorded Queen of this design. An extremely rare opportunity for the Chess enthusiast.
