Greek Bone and Lead Astragalos, from Ancient Greece, ca 6th - 1st Century BC. An ancient Greek bone and lead astragalos or 'knucklebone'. Astragaloi (astragaloi), literally the ankle bones of a sheep, were childrens' toys employed in a number of games akin to jacks or dice. The Astragalos is 1 1/8 (3 cm) long. Ex European Private Collection. Value range: $400-$600.
