Kissi currency from West Africa, ca. Late 19th century. A bundle of 'penny' currencies (20 + pieces) from the Kissi region of Sierra Leone, West Africa, ca. Late 19th century, used by the Kissi, Loma, Gola and Mende peoples. They are up to 14" high and are made from African iron; each is hand made by flattening, twisting and pounding the metal. Very fine condition with aged patina; comes mounted on steel display base. Ex Cichon collection. Value range: $300 - $400.
