Moche Combat Scene. A wonderful Moche III molded bottle from Peru, c. 200 – 450 AD. It is 8-1/4” high and depicts a supernatural combat scene between two Demon Fish. It is interesting that the artist emphasizes the human characteristics by highlighting the lower extremities on only one side. A great scene, in excellent condition. See Hoyle “Los Mochicas II”, pages 297 & 320, for similar examples from the Herrera Museum. Ex Espinoza estate. Value range $1500 - $2000..
