Lot 37-376. A lot of 5 nice Bronze Fibulae.
A lot of 5 nice Bronze Fibulae. This first is an Italic type, c. 8th - 5th Century BC, with thick, arching body. L: 1 1/8ï¾ (2.8 cm). Loss of pin. Cf. Hattatt (1982), no. 198. The second is a La P-Shaped Bow type, 2nd - 3rd Century AD, with nicely formed body and well-preserved iron coil and pin. L: 2ï¾ (5 cm). Cf. Hattatt (1985), no. 488 for the type. The third is a Roman Knee Brooch, 2nd Century AD, with semicircular head and original pin and catch. L: 1 ï¾¼ï¾ (3.3 cm). Cf. Hattatt (1987), no. 1241 for the type. The fourth is Bow Brooch, 2nd - 3rd Century AD, with nicely incised body and intact pin and coil. L: 1 ï¾¾ï¾ (4.5 cm). The last is bow type fibula, c. 3rd Century AD, the tail with a cross hidden amongst a floral device, an early way the symbol was displayed to avoid persecution. Loss to pin and catch.
