Lambayeque Maternal figure from Peru, ca. 700 - 1300 AD. A rare Lambayeque (Sican) Maternal figure from Peru, ca. 700 - 1300 AD. This unusual vessel is 7-1/4” high and depicts a female with an elaborately adorned infant on one arm. She is wearing a labret and her arms are covered with incised designs indicating jewelry and fancy clothing. Intact, with strong mineral deposits. Cf. Donnan “Ceramics of Ancient Peru”, page 92.
