Nicoya Polychrome Bowl. A choice Nicoya bowl from Costa Rica, ca. 800 – 1000 AD. This fine Papagayo Polychrome is 8” in diameter and is decorated with the man-jaguar designs typical of the Culebra variety. Disembodied heads are arrayed with disembodied S-shape, spotted and clawed legs. The underside is quartered with the characteristic bright orange panels and the interior is finished with a swirled, cream wash. In perfect condition, with good mineral deposits. Ex Weiler estate. Value range $400 - $600.
