Pair of Indus Valley Terracotta Vessels. A pair of Indus Valley terracotta vessels, Nal Culture, c. 3,000 – 2,500 BC. The first is a large steep-sided example, the walls vertical with outward turned lip, the bottom sharply tapering into a small flattened base. The sides are decorated alternating geometric designs in deep brown paint. H: 3 1/8” (8.1 cm); The second a small goblet with pedestal foot, the top of the body narrowing with a flared mouth. The sides are decorated with repeating geometric designs in dark brown slip. H: 3 7/8” (9.8 cm). Both intact, the bowl with a small rim chip. Ex Los Angeles private collection.
