Lot 11-197. Colima Portrait Jar

A lovely Colima face jar from West Mexico, ca. 300 BC - 300 AD. It is 3-1/4" in diameter and shows a nicely detailed face modeled in relief. The chamber has additional design elements, now shown by paint that has deteriorated. The dark red slip is highly burnished and shows good mineral deposits. Small rim repair. Ex Rendon collection. Value range $300 - $500
