Huari Orca Vessel. A large Huari polychrome vessel from Peru, c. 650 – 800 AD. This beautifully painted Coastal Huari type example is 9-1/4” high and is decorated with a trio of superbly detailed Orca deities, separated by geometric and linear design panels. The orca design is an adaptation of earlier Nazca AMB paintings, showing the cross cultural influence of Nazca painters on Huari artisans. Intact, vivid paint, good mineral deposits. Ex Sarmiento collection. Value range $830 - $1000.
