Chimu Figural Vessel. A lovely Chimu figural bottle from Peru, c. 1100 – 1450 AD. This choice example is 7-1/2” high and depicts a standing figure with his hands held atop his head. He is attired in layered clothing that has decorative incising and is wearing an unusual headdress. An exaggerated set of whiskers appears to be attached to his cheeks. Most likely this is a portrayal of an actor representing an important character from mythology. In perfect condition, good mineral deposits. Ex Sarmiento collection. Value range $500 - $700.
